Whole, not parts. Gestalt Media House is a production studio in Vancouver that makes film, stills, and creative direction as one piece of work.

The studio runs the whole thing: concept, treatment, casting, production, post. That is not a service list so much as a preference. The work holds together better when the person who wrote the treatment is also in the room at the grade.

Founded and directed by Kevin Cruz and Hira Vin. Kevin is a commercial and editorial photographer whose work has run with Marriott Bonvoy, Uber Eats, ELLE Canada, Photo Vogue, and Loblaws. Hira is an Indigenous-Taiwanese and Japanese filmmaker who directs and produces high-concept film and branded work, with projects that have reached Netflix, Sony, and Hulu.

How we work

Three habits.

Think whole

The idea comes before the gear. Strategy, performance, sound, stills, and pacing are one decision made early, not five made late. We write it down, agree it, and every later choice answers to it.

One idea, in writing.
Everything else follows it.

Stay in the room

Both cofounders run concept, shoot, and post. Nothing is handed to a department, so nothing gets lost between them. The person who pitched the treatment is the one who calls the take and sits at the grade.

No hand-offs.
No layers to pay for.

Say it plainly

We say what things cost, what they need, and when they are done. If a deadline forces a trade, we name it. If a project is not our kind of work, we say so on the first call and point you somewhere better.
